in playoffs do you go with hot bat or name?

So playoffs start next week. I totally dominated reg. season play but my Outfielders have not too well lately.

L. Gonzo
C. Crawford

I have both Holliday and Sizemore that have been switching at the Utility spot. (Holliday now because of his homestand although it looks as if Sizemore is going to have more points) Each of these guys alone have doubled the total combined points of the 3 this week.

Do I sit my so called studs for these guys ever?

Yeah - ride the hot bats. In my league, we minimize transactions to minimize the riding off hot bats off waivers.

Play the hot bat, but if you are talking about guy's like Pujols, Sheffield, AROD, Vlad and so on then you play the name. There is a fine line of you you sit to play the hot hand and who you keep in the lineup no matter what.

I dont think any of your OF are players you play no matter, with maybe the exception of Crawford.

In general, I'd play the percentages and go with your best players (the "names", as you put it). The idea of hot and cold streaks are a little overrated IMO (having a lot to do with random chance in most cases). The worst part about playing a "hot" player is that it's another week before you realise they've gone cold again, in which time you might have basically blown your chances in the playoffs.

When you have studs like Berkman, you can't bench them. Crawford always has the potential to rack up the steals. Gonzalez has been punchless for a long time now, so I might consider benching him for Holliday at home. But mamorris is right. Too often, "hot" players are already cold by the time we think to put them in the lineup. They're just like these back-to-school clothes commercials on TV. If you're just now buying that style, you're behind the curve already. It's not cool anymore.
