How close is your race?

Postby jayman » Fri Sep 19, 2003 11:55 pm

The top three teams in my twelve team league are separted by 5 points each:

94.50
89.50
84.50

This is a work place league... so bragging rights are a big deal. Anyway, I'm there in second.... I can make up 1 point in avg... my teams hitting .284 the next guy is htitting .285. 1 point in RBI's, my team is behind by 1 RBI. And.... 3.5 whole points in wins!!!!

Wins looks like this:

Wins -- Points
94 -- 11.5
94 -- 11.5
93 -- 10.0
92 -- 8.5
92 -- 8.5

The third place guy is up there with 93 wins.... so he can make up some ground on me... I'm in there with 92 wins.

The guy with 93 has: Beckett, Clement, Halladay and Oswalt
I have: Miller, Morris, Prior and Schilling. The guy I'm tied with has Pettite, Ramon Ortiz, Maddux and Lackey.

So, this is going to be a really nerve racking week for me :-o

But.. it's fun... anyone else involved in a close finish?

We are trading places on a daily basis. As much as 5 points up and down. I've rarely played a league that was this close. Nerve racking and fun all at the same time. :-o :-)

Here's a perfect example:

era: 3.66 (me)
3.67 (3rd place team)
3.68 (1st place team)

With Zambrano getting shelled, I'll lose 2 points in era and both of them will gain one. :-/

Very stressful to say the least. :-o But very enjoyable and will make me very happy if I end up winning that one. B-)

My closest league is a H2H league that I won the regular season....115-78-5 to 113-81-6...we are (going in to today) in a 5-5 tie for the championship....but I will take him.... ;-)

England's Worcester Canoe Club set the world record for paddling a hand-propelled bathtub. The 25 man team covered a distance of 55 miles, 425 yards in 24 hours on September 28 and 29, 1979.

Gotta love those down-to-the-wire races! Go get 'em! ;-D

In my 5x5 league we always seem to have extremely tight races in even years and blowouts in odd ones. This year, the margin between first and second is 20.5 points...

Hope you have more luck than I did DHC! I didn't make the finals because fo a 5-5 tie.... And now I'm losing in the race for third. I'm down 6-2! Damn! String of bad luck is coming at exactly the wrong time! :-t

I'm happy to say my race isn't close at all. I have 178 out of a possible 180 points, and the second place guy has 146.5 points. Although, it is a little boring, it did allow me to begin trading for better keepers a long time ago.
