Any life left in Ryan Klesko?

Postby kcs261 » Sun Jun 27, 2004 9:52 pm

I've already gotten semi-burned by Brian Giles this year. So I hesitate to find much value in another left-handed slugger in San Diego? But does anybody think he has any gas left in the tank? He's sitting on my WW and I'm thinking of grabbing him. But there's no sense in being attached to his past stats if he isn't going to do anything this year.

He's done. I wouldn't touch him IMO.

At the beginning of this year I thought he could still crack 25, possibly even 30 homeruns and knock in 85-100 runs, but his days appear to be over. He is very injury prone and PETCO park is killing lefties left and right. I'd try to find somebody else.

I think he is first on the list to go ...

He and Payton are killing us offensively. Ryno is sad on D too .. he needs to go.

I've watched a few Pads games this year (mostly when Peavy's pitched), I'd be surprised if Klesko hit more than 8 HR's if he remains a Padre. He looks like a poor man's Ben Grieve with an even longer swing.

Pads should feel fortunate if a DH-needy AL team takes him off their hands.

I dealt him (because I likewise thought he could hit 20-25 and was 1B/OF eligible) in my 16-teamer for Contreras last week. Hoping Jose is not hurt long-term. Even if he's out for the year, I still wouldn't be upset on making it because I believe Ryan's virtually worthless. However, based on name value alone, you at least try dealing him to someone that sees a possible 2nd half surge.
