WHEN WILL YOU DRAFT GRIFFEY??

Postby Lofunzo » Tue Feb 15, 2005 10:40 pm

I ask this assuming that everyone would take him at a certain spot. Even those that say never would have to look at him in the super late rounds. For you, when is the right time??

id draft him as my utility guy in a 12 team mixed, or my 3rd outfielder if im absolutly desperate. So, thats like 16th-18th round. He likely wont fall that far, so i probably dont have to worry about it.

Agreed. He's a high risk/high reward players that you take near the end.

I'd take Griffey in 1998.. But now? I just don't know. Maybe around the 20th round or so. Maybe. I'm always afraid his gimpiness will rub off on my other players.

Never. In reality, sometime late. You wont get much more than 2 months production out of him.

Next year. And that is only if he can prove he can stay healthy all of this year.

I might take him late if I need HRs. Even if he's healthy, I don't see his AVG being very good ever again.
My apologies. I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.

If at all, then maybe in the last round. Even IF he stays reasonably healthy and gives you decent power numbers, his average is not going to be any better than .250

I'd say 10th to 12th round or later....I have low expectations for him. Maybe if you can get the 2 or 3 months production from him at a utility/bench player.

Then again maybe he will be 2005 NL Comeback Player of the Year..... naahhhhhhh :-o
