Ryan Wagner advice needed.

Postby edb27 » Sat Mar 05, 2005 11:01 am

Is he worth holding on to in a dynasty leauge? I know he has tremendous upside but his numbers last year have me wondering if I should drop him and pick up Rincon who is just sitting on the FA list.

I guess I am also asking should I us that roster slot for a guy who is going to help me now or a guy who might help me down the road?

Tough call to make, so I need some advice on him.

Thanks

I think Wagner has a lot of upside. His 2004 numbers are greatly impacted by two really bad outings. Throw those out, and he looks pretty good. I think I read somewhere, too, that he got into some bad habits last year and was determined to get that corrected.

All that said, if you're looking for an immediate impact, he's not a definite to make the 25-man roster coming out of training camp. Several pitchers on the team are out of options, and the Reds must find a spot for them or risk losing them through waivers. Wagner has options, and may start the year in AAA.

As the birdie said in the last episode of Wonderfalls

Let him go!
