Ok, so I'm considering drafting this guy in the end-game of my auction draft.
Historically, he gets no respect, and because of early draft (in 6 hours) I question if some of my league is fully aware of his status as everday centerfielder for the Padres.

I've seen very little conversation about him.

Opinions?

I'm not sure he'll get everyday ab's. I'd only count on 400-450 ab's.

Well, he seems a lot like Podsednik in that his BA will not be very good for your team, plus he gets hurt quite a bit. I don't know anything about the playing time, but I think that's why he's thought of as a mid-late round player. He was taken in the 14th round in the draft I am in on the Cafe.

Why?

because you think his batting average warrants a platoon? (with Eric young?)

to give Nady some playing time?

or am i missing something?

The signing to me indicates they want a speedster at the top of the lineup to steal some bases. a full time platoon with young seems counterproductive.

If you can afford to own him and only start him against righties, he won't kill your average so bad (plus, he may not even start against lefties for the Pads). That's my plan anyways.

I think he is a solid late late pick and should be able to grab you several bags.

He'll get 50 steals easy. They need to play small ball in that park. I traded away some speed before our draft and was happy to take him in what amounted to the 13th round. I don't care if he gets 300 AB's, he'll still get that many SB's. The guy is a jack rabbit. All this talk about Pods. Roberts is the same guy. He'll lead the NL. ;-)
