Hootie: the whole "well other people cheated as well" argument doesn't excuse a singal thing Barry has done.

actually things like that happen ALL the time. especially with wealthy people who would rather not deal with the whole court process and the extra negative publicity. its easy to get someone to shut their trap when all they want in the first place is money. to me, it does seem like a p***y thing to do but everyone is different. this is not to say that i dont think kobe is guilty, i really have no idea, but taking the quickest way out of a problem does not necessarily equate to guilt.

Exactly. And the settlement was for the CIVIL case, not the criminal. By paying the settlement, the case is over and no longer a distraction during the season. Settlements happen all the time and have little correlation to guilt.
