Dotel vs. Kolb

Postby 2k4cubs » Thu Mar 24, 2005 1:58 pm

Who would you rather have? I worry somewhat that Dotel could lose his job to Street sometime, but he will dominate Kolb in K's.

Thoughts???

I'd rather have Dotel, I think he's a more prolific relief pitcher and closer than Kolb. Kolb gets the job done but with measly strikeout numbers.
The odds of the AL MVP coming from the American League are looking pretty good.

Last year Dotel had 122k's to Kolb's 21k's...Dotel, and it's not even close.

That is a real mind boggler. One the one hand you have Dotel with amazing stuff, all the physical talent in the world, but I'm not sure that he has the stones to be a closer. On the other side you have Kolb who has no stuff, but seems to have his mind wrapped around what he needs to get done. The thing that I think no one appreciates is that while Kolb is not over powering, he doesn't give up many free bases and keeps the ball in the park.

If it was me, I think that I'd rather have Kolb and hope for a lot of groundball outs.

Actually a Mile makes it seem closer than it really is.

Kolb has no guarantee of having a job my June.
I have him as my "Bust of the Year"

It doesn't matter enough to you guys that Dotel blew 6 saves and had a 4.11 ERA after moving to Oakland, while Kolb is heading to Atlanta, where they have the best pitching coach in baseball and he'll get more opportunities than in Milwaukee?

It matters to me. IMO, Dotel has Domaso Marte written all over him.
