I am pretty sure that a portion of the cafe members believe that he is in for a big year. If that is so, any explaining the cold start? I am just wondering cause I have the opportunity to buy him low in an important league, and am stuck wondering whether I should or not. Also, do you believers still have the same feelings on this guy and his projections for this year?

Dont worry, its gonna be soon when he finds his groove and starts smashing the ball.

the guy is actually pretty consistent -- it just falls short of everyone's hopes.

I have him for 25-30 hr's, 90-100 rbi. anything more is gravy. he'll get there, you jsut have to take a .260 avg. but his low end is very livable.

He was way over-hyped during ST. He'll probably get his .270 BA and 30+ HR but not a lot more than that, like everybody was expecting.

I've been able to watch quite a few Braves games so far this season, and I own Andruw on one team so I've been watching him specifically. He still can't resist the low breaking balls/splitters. He can hit a fastball anywhere on the plate, but pitchers know that and consistently feed him pitches that he can't hit. Until he makes an adjustment and learns to hit those pitches, I don't expect him to improve.

Yeah that new stance is making all the difference is't it ;-7

I've watched him in two games this season and Slomo is bang on the button. He's going to hit maybe 30 HR's but he's still a very easy out.

Which 2 of the following 3 slow starting OF would you rather have?

Andruw Jones
Carlos Lee
JD Drew

I'm leaning toward Lee and Jones.

He's looked foolish all day today against Clemens and then Lidge. While that's no shame, he has looked AWFUL!! Like he has no hope of hitting. Any pitch that moves misses his bat. New stance or not, 0-18 slimps make me unhappy.

If you were expecting him to hit over .270 because of the new stance and his always hot spring, you were sorely mistaken. The guy will hit 30, but he'll give a Dunn like average.

Nice Cubsfan way to point out my plight. I own Dunn and Jones. :-o and fully expect to achieve the worst possible score in the strike out category. !+)
