It's not cheating if there's no rule prohibiting it. It WOULD be highly unethical to churn pitchers without actually playing them, but that doesn't sound like your case.
The problem is with the league rules, not your taking advantage of them.

Even that's not cheating. You can argue about the "morality" of it, but it's a valid strategy. Any player who this would really matter for would be a WW pick- if you want to blow your spot on an add/drop combo, that's your choice. Players who have been sitting in the FA pool don't get hot overnight- if you miss that guy while someone else add/drops him, you just need to be quicker. And keep in mind that in order to add/drop someone, you have to drop someone else on your team.

If you aren't purposely picking up and putting them on the wire to stop them from picking up players, its fine.

Agreed. As long as there is no limits you are well within the league guidelines it is fine.
There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

No innings limit... no transactions limit... and IP replaces WHIP as a scoring category. What exactly did they think would happen? You're not cheating, they just set up the league with ridiculous rules.

it's definitely not cheating, but it is a cheap way to play. very hard to respect a manager who does. in my league we are only allowed 40 pickups for the season.

see half the people have been saying this. They all have the same opportunity as me. Them not doing so, thats on them. I am just taking advantage of a situation. How can u not respect a manager for that?
