Calero a little banged up...

For anyone who has him in holds leagues, may wanna bench him for a few days and keep checking. Until he gets back I assume Street will be the primary setup man with Cruz struggling.

Calero, who had a 2.78 ERA in 41 games with St. Louis last season, has been even better for Oakland. In fact, he's been close to perfect, winning two games while allowing zero runs in five outings thus far.

On Monday, however, it was revealed that Calero is suffering from pain in his pitching elbow. He last worked on Saturday, and on Tuesday he ducked into the clubhouse while the rest of the pitchers played catch in the outfield during batting practice.

"I think we're gonna have to give him another day of doing nothing," said pitching coach Curt Young, adding that being without Calero for an extended period of time would be "a big concern."

Manager Ken Macha downplayed Calero's condition, which he called "a little bit of a strain" and "nothing unusual."

"We're just being cautious," he added.

I'm not in a holds league, but I was enjoying his ratios. Keep us updated RynMan...he's not all that valuable to my team, but I really didn't want to lose him either. Let me know if it's time to cut bait in normal 5x5 leagues (like if the injury seems serious).

See, see, see, the end of the A's is upon us!! All the naysayers were right afterall!!

Thanks for the update RynMan, even though I'm not lucky enough to have him in my leagues, I want him to do well as a former Cardinal. :-D

I just cut him....I'm fairly confident I can have him back if I want him in a few days. I really need an offensive replacement for Andruw Jones while he's mired in his slump. There are fairly valuable MRs available in my league (Linebrink, Ryan Wagner, Donnelly) so I'm not too worried about getting Calero back if I want him. Hopefully he's OK though, I really enjoyed the vulture win he gave me a few nights ago. ;-D
