He's having trouble with his location.

He's still one of the best closers in the league.

He's definitely greater than Hoffman. He's top-5 behind only Mariano, Lidge, Gagne (healthy) and maybe K-Rod.

Don't worry, he'll be fine.

Hoffman, in my book, is the most reliable closer of all-time. He has the third best save percentage of all-time, behind Eric Gagne and Smoltz, and while Gagne I believe is the better closer now, Hoffman's longevity will probably not be matched by Gagne.

As for Foulke, I think he has some catching up to do to get to the Hoffman-status as a closer.

As a fantasy player, however, it's an entirely different story. I've never heard of a league that counted save % or blown saves so the advantage Hoffman would have had disappears. Foulke is going to pitch more innings, so his ERA and WHIP will have a greater impact on your team and obviously he'll have a higher amount of K's. NL pitchers tend to have more saves though, and if you are judging strictly on that, Hoffman is your man. Otherwise, Foulke.

Foulke is overrated playing for Boston IMO.

I have him rated as the 7th best closer, behind Lidge, Mariano, Gagne, K-Rod, Nathan, and F. Cordero

His location has been off and velocity down a bit, though most people attribute it to early-season kinks in mechanics and routine. I'm sure he'll be fine. I'd put him down for 30 saves, 4 wins, 50 K's, a high 2's era and a 1.00 whip
