Willy Taveras pickup desired but at what cost?

Postby SoxWillNeverWinAgain » Thu Apr 21, 2005 11:38 pm

I'm in a 12 man h2h money league.. with singles/doubles/triples/avg/bb etc. Right now my outfield looks like this: Ichiro/Rowand/Brian Giles

I have a pretty solid bench (at least I think so) Who would you drop to pick up Willy Taveras..

Winn (speed/power)
Crisp ( speed/avg)
Belliard (48 doubles last year is very impressive)
Mench (power)

Man I'm so hesitant to let any of my guys go, but you have to believe Taveras is going to have a special year.. Right now I'm leaning towards dropping Winn, even though he may wind up hitting 2nd with Beltre and Sexson hitting behind him..... oh boy.. I may have just talked myself out of it.

Everett went out tonight with a mildly strained hamstring... Any chance that Willy might get a shot at hitting leadoff finally? :-?

id drop belliard i think, though i would also consider winn because i really think reed will stick in the 2 spot and he's starting to hit

i wouldn't drop mench as he is about to turn it on, and check out this info from espn notes....

NEWS: April 21
SKINNY: Mench was singled out by manager Buck Showalter as the one player that will benefit the most by the demotion of Adrian Gonzalez, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

ROTOWIRE SPIN: "If Kevin does well, he can play every day," Showalter said. "This is one of the things that this creates. It's up to Kevin." Mench entered Wednesday's game playing in just 10 of the first 15 games but responded with three RBI, two walks and two hits on Wednesday.

Winn...It's an even trade right now which will favor you easily once Willy gets the leadoff position. SB galore.
