Feelings on Oliver Perez

Just traded for him and got him pretty cheap. Any thoughts on if he can turn it around and be close to the pitcher he was last year.

I personally felt he was going way too high in drafts this year...but if you got him cheap then he is definitely worth a roster spot. How many people cut Johan last year in the year weeks before he got on a roll? Too early to bail on him now.

I'm really hoping that once he gets back into the swing of things he'll be able to do well again. He didn't pitch at all in the offseason and not that much in Spring Training. I hope the trade works out for you.

I don't know though...he's walking way too many people right now. He needs to work on getting strikes early so that he can get that heat working and blow it by guys for strike 3. A little run support would be a nice confidence boost also, but I don't see that happening any time soon either.

hmmm, I'm getting close to getting Escobar back and it'll be tight on who to dump to hang on to Perez.

I'm going to get my lineup set before Escobar comes back so he can sit on the DL and see how his first outing goes but then its :-?

I wouldn't dump Perez for Escobar. Unless you are in an 8 team league or something you should be able to trade one of them anyway.

I am going to keep him but not start him until he has a good start. I he continues to have another 3-4 straight bad starts then I will just drop him like I did Vazquez.

Yeah, his K are too tempting to toss just yet but he is not looking too sharp. I did catch about 1/2 of his outing vs the Pads and he was all over the place until he got yanked....

I watched his game against Carlos Zambrano a couple of weeks ago and his stuff and velocity seem to be there but he just doesnt have any command. Since he didnt pitch much in the offseason and ST, he probably needs a lil more leeway time to get it all together.
