Figgins won't lose time

Postby Mercer Boy » Fri Apr 22, 2005 2:45 pm

I guess Kennedy is coming back in two weeks (isn't that a lot earlier than first thought?), but I guess Figgins will still be in the lineup all the time.

Yahoo! player update thingy wrote:Apr 22 The Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin reports Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 2B Chone Figgins will not lose playing time when 2B Adam Kennedy (knee) returns from the disabled list.

Rotowire:
Update: Kennedy is expected to rejoin the Angels in about two weeks, the LA Times reports.

Recommendation: Manager Mike Scioscia said Chone Figgins would not lose his spot in the lineup when Kennedy returns, but did not say whether this meant Figgins would shift over to third base.

Guess that means McPherson won't be starting anymore...

I hope this isn't posted already...didn't see Figgy's name on the first page. :-o

thats good news to here. he seems to be hitting a little better at the bottom of the lineup recently. a few sb's would be nice though.

Since I see Kennedy getting most starts vs. righties at the very least, it sure sounds like Figgins will be bouncing around positionally with 3B a likely destination.

thats pretty big news in my opinion. something that could fly under the radar a bit but this guy is comin on after a pretty poor 1st week and its good to see someone with that speed who can help a lot of teams will continue to see time.

Thats good news for two reasons...

1. Figgins hasn't done much so far in part because he was moved to the bottom of the lineup. If he lost playing time it would effectively kill his value. Perhaps with time Sciosca can see the light and move him up again, but at least I know now he can get ABs.

2. I traded McPherson

DaVannon has done nothing to keep himself in the lineup, so I'm expecting Figgins to play DH against right handers. When a leftie is starting, then Figgins will spell either McPherson or Kennedy.
