ROFL trade approval and cbs

Postby agchris02 » Fri Apr 22, 2005 5:05 pm

Well good ol cbs is at it again, in my public league of idiots (not the one where the intersting WW situation was, my other one that drops everyone), one of the morons drafted 6 closers (which is fine, you can start any 7P's), and had gotten frustrated -- I said Id trade with him, he proposed:

K Foulke, B Lidge, H Matsui
for
J Lieber, B Radke, C Patterson

I leaped, accepted
Well evidently the idiots werent as dumb as I thought, and it was vetoed (7-3), so, since its a public league, it went to the cbs commishioner

who........... APPROVED IT, and emailed our league asking us to "please only veto trades that are completely lopsided, both sides gained something from this deal"

Woohoo for me ;-D

I don't want to sound like an idiot...but I think the cbs commissioner did the right thing. You definitely got the better end of the deal...but the trade wasn't so lopsided that it was vetoable...imo.

not that radke and leiber are bad pitchers, theyre great middle of the rotation guys, but in a pts league, each one of them will finish quite a bit below either of lidge or foulke, maybe its closer than i thought, but i almost fell out my chair laughing and clicking the accept button

I can't enjoy leagues like that, no sense of accomplishment.

Well that is hardly unexpected. Those Commissioners they have basically are not going to be bothered in the public leagues. Unless you hit one of the few decent ones that gives a damn, they will approve just about anything that is not Pujols for Rickey Ledee-like. You play in public leagues you can expect that sort of thing to happen unfortunately.

Some leagues/managers do not value RP's as much as others. I happen to be one of the managers that do not drool over RP's so much that I would take one before the 7th or 8th round at best. Sooo..IMO..that trade was not vetoable.
