Coco Crisp moved to the 6 hole: Value up or down?

What's your take on how his move from #2 to #6 affects his production this year? His manager wants him in more of an RBI production spot he says. So clearly Clearly it will produce more RBIs. What about Rs and Stls though?

I think it hurts his value. He is not a good base stealer and I don't think he'll steal much from the 6 hole. He's not a big power hitter and I dont' think he'll repeat last years average. So you have a pretty mediocre all around hitter in my opinion.

I think he will steal more in that position.

That was my initial thought as well. with those crummy 7,8,9 hitters you have to think they will want to play the basepaths and manfacture runs in the bottome half of that lineup

Hurts his value.

I only want players that bat 1-4, possible 5 but not usually.

Hitting somewere in there increases there chances to put up stats in all cats.

That's ludicrious to say that you don't like the 5 hole. The list of studs in the 5 hole is suprising. Also at the 6 spot, Off hand I can think of 3 guys doing great out of that spot this year: Javy, Varitek, And Tino Martinez.

This move is just a musical chairs exercise in hopes to find a formula to get the pathetic Tribe offense in gear. I don't think anyone realistically expects Blake to stay in the leadoff spot or Boone at 8th. They are just shaking things up hoping to get out of a funk. Crisp will be 1-2 in a matter of weeks -- or worst case, months.

I had never heard of anything the move in the lineup being to get Coco more RBI oppurtunities. Casey Blake was moved to the top order for pretty much the reason that d18mike is correct. Wedge is just trying to jump start the offense by shuffling things around. The rationale in putting Blake number 1 was that he sees more pitches per plate appearance than Coco, but ultimatley it is just a shuffle to try and get things going. Coco will be back up at the top of the order again unless he struggles mightily.

This guy is upsetting me this week! 2 HRs, 3 SBs, and either 6 Rs or RBIs thus far. He had one HR all year before Monday, simply amazing.
