Please, Cameron has a .250 career average and is back to his usual antics this month--he is hitting .200. He is not 30/30, in fact he has never hit 30/30. In fact he has only hit more than 25 HRs once. And I am doubting that he has the legs to steal much more than 20 again. But let's even assume that you can expect him to go 25/25 when healthy. If he hits .250, which should be a realistic baseline assumption, he costs you .004 in the BA cat. In a typical rotoleague, this will in most cases completely eliminate any HR and SB gains above average replacement value. So it is basically a wash between Cameron and some bum off the WW. Yet for some reason people tend to value him like he is something special.

I will allow you that there are times where the particular mix that Cameron brings can be advantageous. For example, if losing a little off your BA won't cost you points and a few extra SBs will gain you a couple of points, he will work great. But in a typical roto situation he really doesn't have a substantial net positive.

The entire rumor isn't just Encarnacion for Sheffield. Its Encarnacion and Burnett for Sheffield.
