Players that got snubbed

Postby tribefan13 » Mon Jul 04, 2005 12:17 am

I am a tribe fan so I thought both Grady Sizemore and tRavis Hafner should have made the All Star Game at least as reserves. I understand that sizemore shouldnt have been in it for sure....but Hafner. His numbers are unreal right now. Shea isn't doing anything. I feel Travis Hafner got snubbed the worst in the AL. Toronto already had someone in it so I don't see why another guy ont hat team made it. Hafner has 6 more homeruns and 20 more RBIs and a higher Slugg. %. Can someone explain thsi to me? Boston manager should have put him in it for sure. In the series they played last, I think he had something like 5 doubles and 3 homeruns. But he doesnt vote ihm in????

Sizemore is a flash in the pan, Hafner probably would have been in if he wasn't DH only. With Ortiz already there, it's tough having 2 defensive liabilities
Don't think meat it can only hurt the team

Grady will be there in a few years.

Hafner should of made it over Hillenbrand.

Podsednik should win the last spot vote.
1.Roger>Randy this year; 2.New Yankee SP's = BUST! (again); 3. Bernie will cover the least amount of ground of any CF in baseball for 4th straight yr.; 4. Yanks = stuck with Giambi's contract; 5. Loaiza > any SP signed in offseason by Yankees.

I understand that hafner prolyl shouldn't have been a starter because (i hate to say it cuz i hate ortiz) but ORtiz is better. He should have def. made ther eserve team over Shea. His stats are way better and he is doing amazing in June especially

Shea was voted in by the players as the DH. Most of the players voted for Big Papi, I'm sure, but when the fans elected him, the spot went to the guy with the second-most votes at the DH position by the players. Not saying it's fair, but that's what happened.

With the way he's been carrying that offense (or trying to at least), how could Morgan Ensberg not make it? And any fans that voted Beltran in over Andruw need to have their votes discounted! Well, maybe not discounted, but you know what I'm saying.

Morgan Ensberg, Nick Johnson, Brian Giles, Hideki Matsui, and Travis Hafner are all top 25 in the MLB in Runs Created, so they all got snubbed. Hillenbrand is 64th. (According to one Runs Created formula)
