It surprises me that a broken toe could keep a player out for six weeks.
How much longer will he be out?
When he does come back, is the any chance he could be the player he was last year?
He can't do too much worse, of course, but will he be a river Ace at the end of the season?

I think it depends on your team's situation. If you can afford the risk of starting him, then he might be worth taking a chance on as he could help your era, whip and ks....however, I will not be taking that chance. I can't have him blowing up my whip and era if he sux. And he won't get many wins even if he pitches well, because he plays for Pittsburgh.
