That is a better punch than I even saw watching that UFC show on Spike.

And why did he form a fist???

Atleast thats my take. Posednik didn't even flinch though, gotta respect that. ;-D

Is that you Irish? :-D

LOL, no, he's got a few years on me.

But I don't understand why

1) His arm would be aimed directly at Posedniks face. Was he trying to steal his hat, cause he wasn't going for the ball.

2) Once he did get closer, why would he form a fist instead of just retracting his arm?

EDIT: After watching again this ^^^ is wrong. No malice IMO

The guy isn't even looking for the ball... and his hand is about 2 feet from where Pods glove caught the ball. I think the look on the guys face behind/inbetween Pods and the puncher says it all.

I watched the play on MLB.TV, the reason why he has his hand closed is because he was trying to catch the ball, kinda like how a catcher's glove closes even if the batter hits the ball. The guy was watching the ball the whole time, he just flat out missed. I dont think there was any intention in hitting Scott, the still picture just makes it looks worse than it really was. It was more of a graze of Scott's face anyway.

After looking at it a few times I think you're right. The guys hand goes up for the ball and then comes down on Posdednik, but doesn't go straight forward like the picture makes it look. And he actually does pull back once contact is made.

;-D

I saw it live on TV when it happened and my initial reaction was "Did that guy just hit Podsednik with a forearm shiver?" That looked awfully intentional for me when I saw it live and now that I see pictures and have seen replays it doesn't change my initial reaction. Looked intentional to me.

Agreed. This guy should never be allowed back into the ballpark.

I can't help it, but that's a funny pic. :-D

Haven't actually seen the play yet, so I can't comment about that.
