Most WW trash on a 1st place team?

Postby Pablo975 » Sat Aug 13, 2005 5:00 pm

Just curious here......which team do you have or play against that is currently in first place with the most waiver wire pickups?

I'm in first in my friends and family 5x5, roto, 12 team, keeper league and have picked up:

Pat Burrell
Rickie Weeks
Jhonny Peralta
Brett Myers
Derrick Turnbow
Felix Hernandez

And from one idiot owner:

Aubrey Huff
Aramis Ramirez (yes THAT A-Ram! The guy thought his early injury would be a nagging, year ending type of thing and mocked me for picking him up. He's now in 10th place. :-D )

Pretty darn good players for WW trash huh? I play with a few morons in the league, but still.....8 good players off waivers? Anyone else have that happen in their league?

I think Pablo is saying his opponents' trash is Pablo's treasure.

Well, I usually finish first or second and am usually one of the most active owners at add/drops off WW -- and my main competitions are usually also like that unless it's a limited-transaction league.

I think you normally have to be at least somewhat active w/ WW pickups in order to win (or come close) regularly. Regardless of how well you draft, you can't forsee every single major injury, subpar season, sleeper breakouts, etc, etc. And unless the competition is very weak, you're not gonna have a far superior draft over your peers either. I guess if your league is very active w/ trades, especially in a very deep league, the WW pickups will matter less.

Wharfrat made my point best. I don't consider the names I listed as trash players, but someone else did and I reaped the benefits of their stupidity! ;-D
