Power or Balanced team?

Postby theclefe » Wed Aug 24, 2005 11:17 pm

Could the following lineup win in real baseball?

2b- A Soriano
CF- A Jones
SS- A Rodriguez
LF- M Ramirez
1b- D Lee (Ortiz, Texieriera, Pujols)
RF- A Dunn
3b- M Ensburg (ARam)
C- M Piazza

With the exception of Piazza, all players have 30+ homeruns this season. Assume their pitching staff is comparible to some of the top teams and consider defense, speed and other attributes when deciding. Players in parenthises also have 30+ and can replace at a position.

Would you rather have this team, or a more balanced team? and why?

This team. A team of all stars would dominate any team - well balanced or not. There is simply too much talent. You can with without balance, you can't win without talent.

Take Dunn out and give me a hitter instead, and I'd certainly take that team into battle. ;-D

That team would be perfect if you could take away Dunn and add Ichiro. Than it would be unstopable, but that team would easily dominate with all that talent

LMAO that's like saying you wouldn't take the 24th Mechanized into battle because a few of the tanks got poor gas mileage. :-D

That team would outslug anybody. They'd win even with poor pitching, methinks. Can we say Murderers Row?

I might take a healthy Rolen at 3B for his defense.

I'd take an insane pitching staff over and insane starting lineup anyday...at least if I had to build a team.

new queston:

If this were the team, do you think it is possible for an entire lineup to still have 30+ homeruns at this point?

Sure it's certainly possible. Maybe not likely, as 30 HR's takes a lot of talent and some luck and I'm not sure both would align to make this group of players all hit 30 Hr's next year. But it's possible.
