PHOENIX -- Brett Myers had posted a 5-1 mark over his previous eight games, but even he understands when a hit is more important than a pitcher's psyche.
"We've got to do what we need to do to win games," said Myers, who was lifted after only four innings and 84 pitches for a pinch-hitter just before the Phillies' bats came alive for an 11-3 victory over struggling Arizona in the first of a three-game set at Bank One Ballpark.

Manager Charlie Manuel pulled Myers for pinch-hitter Ramon Martinez with runners on the corners and one out and the Phils trailing, 3-1, in the fifth. Martinez delivered a sacrifice fly to trim the lead.

Myers was finished for the night, and the offense took over from there.

looks like he was just pinch hit for :-?

I think he just got replaced because he wasn't pitching well at all last night.

He's been so inconsistant for me this year, sometimes he's amazing, and sometimes he has starts like last night/
