Cheating the Innings Limit in Yahoo

Postby AT » Wed Aug 31, 2005 8:38 am

I heard in a post a week or so ago that people actually get stats over the posted innings limits in Yahoo leagues. Is this possible? How?!? There are a lot of people in my leagues that are over their projections and I don't want them screwing me for some glitch. At the same time, if they're screwing me, I need to know how to screw them as well.

The day that you go over your innings pitched limit, it counts all pitcher points for that day. Example: lets say you had 2 innings left, and you have 4 pitchers pitching that night, it counts all points for that night. Therefor you could get over the inning limit counting toward your point total.

AKA: Hail Mary

Typical thing that quite a few people do in Yahoo leagues. Get as close to the innings max as possible, then load up on starters for one final day of pitching stats, since they all count. You can get an extra 30-40 innings if you play it right.

However, in competitive leagues, it can backfire heavily and kill you in era/whip.

A risky play, but one that is pretty common.

Thanks, the Hail Mary sounds familiar. It's good to know and will have to be a strategy I consider in my league since it's so close in Wins, K's, ERA and WHIP with only a 2 point difference overall between myself and 1st place right now.

last year with one inning left on the last Saturday, I pitched 7 starters they gave me 4 wins and close to 20 Ks. You can also do the same thing with position players. I get them down to ! game and play them in a doulble header or get 3 OFs to play on the last day.

It's not cheating if Yahoo lets you do it ;-)
