Start Lawrence at Colorado?

Postby JRRNeiklot » Thu Jun 19, 2003 6:26 am

I'm way behind in wins and ks, and while I know Lawrence doesn't strike out many, I could use a win. Should I start him today? Or is it worth taking a chance on him blowing my era and whip? I'm first in whip and 4th in era.

I wouldn't. Lawrence doesn't strikeout many batters. That means they hit the ball and the fielders get them out. You don't want to start a guy like that in Coors. The ball travels a lot farther there.

Thanks. That's kinda what I thought. But I'm last place in wins. Every win I can get counts. I was dominating the league until 8 guys went on the dl. It ruined my Ks and wins.

colorado has the best or one of the best home records in the league so i dont think it is a good idea to start lawrence if you are looking for a win.

No. There's not very many guys I would start in Colorado and Lawrence is definitely not one of them. It's too big of a gamble to hope he scraps out a win, while likely suffering an ERA and WHIP hit.

Good call. I left him sitting. He went 4 innings and compiled a 13.5 era.

Thanks.
