Who to drop for Burrell, if anyone???

Postby CBMGreatOne » Thu Jun 19, 2003 12:36 pm

Burrell just hit the waiver wire and my roster looks like this:

C- Jason Varitek
1B- Adam Dunn
2B- Frank Catalanotto
3B- Corey Koskis
SS- Rafael Furcal
OF- Gary Sheffield
OF- Andruw Jones
OF- Kenny Lofton
Util- Edgar Renteria
B- Jay Gibbons
DL- Nick Johnson

SPs- Millwood, Wolf, Dontrelle, Schmidt, Zambrano, Byung Hyun
RPs- Biddle, Julio, Valverde, Beck, Hawkins

Worth dropping any of these guys in case Burrell comes around?

Yeah, but dropping Nick doesn't clear any roster space, because he's on the DL. Anyone else?

Valverde or Hawkins. You have no need for that many RP's. If your league counts hold, then hang onto Hawkins, but Valverde will be worthless pretty soon.

Yeah drop valverde or hawkins but dont necessarily pick up burell. Ive been hanging on to him trying to start him against bad pitchers or when he is in a semi-hot streak but nothing works. He'll hit a few random homers but probably only when you have him on the bench and I dont think he is worth a pick up right now unless you want to bench him till he gets something going for an extended period

Its only a small sample, but in this past series against Atlanta, he's been making solid contact. No homers, but he's been 5 for 12, with a 3 game hit streak. Maybe those games on the bench last week finally woke him up.
