Espn reports: Padilla traded to Rangers for PTBNL... pending physical exam.

YIKES. I really hope they got a good player back for him... He's inconsistent, frustrating, but he's got those undefinable, unteachable "stuff" skills... like a poor man's Matt Clement. The Phillies will be better off without him, but they have to get something good back.

Great news.

Sign Washburn now, to a 2-3 year deal. Then, is it too much to ask Roger to become a Ranger?

Great first step though Texas.

Good signing by Texas... Padilla's a Solid SP and at least gives them a chance to compete. Plus dont forget that they have a healthy and emerging Chris Young to start next year.

1) Young
2) Padilla
3) Loe
4) Sign Washburn (I am not a fan of his, but I like him better than the alternatives)
5) ????

Benoit :-P
Trade for Batista :-P :-P
Trade for Eaton :-P
Juan Dominguez :-P
Dickey :-P

I would love to see Roger here, even if it means $15M. If it means $20, well, I don't think I would enjoy the price but getting Roger and maybe Washburn would make Texas a favorite in the AL west IMO.

Millwood wouldn't be bad, but I am guessing he will go for more money than Washburn. I do like him better, just don't know if it's several million $ and one or two years longer better.

I give them props for getting a pitcher, but he would scare the crap out of me in Texas. He definately is not the answer, but he is better than their other 4 or 5 options.

Who do you guys think is the player to be named?? I don't know much about what the Rangers have been shopping around, whether they're relievers, prospects, etc...

Philly isn't exactly a pitchers' haven either. But I realize Arlington is likely worse - especially in the heat of the summer.

He is a good first step, I agree he shouldn't be the last and only move they make for pitching.
