D'Angelo Jimenez: Potentially huge sleeper?

Postby shortsavage » Thu Dec 15, 2005 5:11 am

D'Angelo Jimenez did something to get on the Reds' bad side last year. They sent him to the minors (AA) after only 35 games. But who really cares about a "washed up" 2B who may not even be starting? Me!

Jimenez had two solid fantasy years in Cinci (albeit a hitter's park). If he ends up in somewhere like Texas, he could become a stud.

In 2003 and 2004 (his only two full seasons as a starter), Jimenez averaged 13HR, 12SB, 73 Runs, 62RBI, and a batting average of .271.

Even if he starts the season as a backup, Jimenez will be well worth a $1 pick. And thus, the D'Angelo Jimenez bandwagon has left the platform.

by all accounts i've ever read or heard, he's a fat lazy POS with no work ethic and plenty of wasted talent, which is why he's always getting shipped around. h'es only worht $1 as a bench player if your league uses really really really deep benches.

If by sleeper you mean a guy who will spend many hours on a minor league bus in the middle of the night while sleeping, I think you got yourself a find there.

Not sure if you have spotted his stats in the Dominican League at the moment:

.169 AVG
.311 OBP
.186 SLG
in 59 at bats.

10 for 59

Apparently he looks lost he has lost the ability to make hard contact.
:,-(

Such a shame....

Or he is doing his A-Rod in the playoffs emulation.

He just signed with Texas and might be the favorite, depending on what Kinsler does. If he gets the job, in that lineup, don't sleep on him. I'm not saying expect great things but he can be a nice surprise.
