My guess is that the reason is similar to the Reds' situation with Weathers/Coffey this past week...just getting Reitsma some innings.

The last time he pitched was nine days ago (April 14), and the last thing a team wants is his closer collecting dust and coming into a game rusty. I wouldn't be surprised if Villareal or Remlinger come in for the save tonight, but Reitsma will be back to closing next opportunity.

Just my take.

The Braves were up when he was brought in.

The most likely reason Reitsma was brought in was because it was the heart of the Nats lineup. Nick Johnson, Guillen, and Zimmerman were due up, and those are the ones you want to have your closer out there for.

Also, it's looking like Reitsma's going to go two innings, so you'll still get the save.

not anymore...he was pinch hit for which IMO is a dumb move

you need your guy out their for the 9th...pinch hitting Pena with 2 out and one on is a bad move

Remlinger in to pitch to Johnson with men on 1st and 3rd, 2 out. ;-7
