Mr. Peralta so far in 2006:

in 39 day at bats: 6 hits, 6 runs, 0 HR, 1 RBI, .154, .393 OPS

vs.

in 41 night at bats: 13 hits, 9 runs, 2 HR, 10 RBI, .317, .893 OPS

He did this last year as well, hitting .303 at night vs. .265 during day games. Let's hope for lots of night baseball in Cleveland this summer!

Thanks for this info, I will keep on eye on this. I love splits like these, if they are over a large enough sample size. Considering I've got a great backup SS (Bill Hall), I could easily bench him during day games.

good info, but don't most players hit better at night (due to contrast against the night sky)?

Yea tell me about it.

But its way to early to worry about day night splits, the sample size isnt' big enough to base anything yet. Give it a couple more weeks and see what happens.

Plus, just a side note, Cleveland usually plays more night games than day games, at least at home where of course most of their games are at. It seems that the day game problem would only arise once a week on sundays.

Yes, I'd definitely rather have him raking at night vs. during the day.

I agree that given 2006 stats alone they're almost meaningless. But when combined with the 2005 stats, I think they're worth considering.
