That's also what makes him one of the most unique players in the game.

Or one of the most overrated.

Hardly. If anything he is underrated.

I agree. Problem is in standard 5x5, a lot of his value goes unnoticed. Play in any league with OBP or OPS and you'll start to scratch below the surface. However, play with K's and you may be in trouble ;-)

we used K's last year in my keeper so i stayed away from him, but this year we just use BB and total bases so his value has gone up significantly.

I remember this discussion last year when he was belting solo shot after solo shot. Maybe he sees the ball better when the pitcher comes out of the windup or something. I'll have to look at his complete runners on vs bases empty stats someday. :-?

It's more likely that pitchers challenge him more when people aren't on base.

That gives him a home run with people on base in 7.54% of his at bats and a home run with the bases empty in 7.60% of his at bats. Not much of a difference at all. The fact that only 43.36% of his home runs come with runners on base is simply a factor of him having less at bats with runners on base - nothing more and nothing less.

My favorite was his year of

27 Hr's 57 Rbi's

Now thats just dumb

So basically AT MOST! he could only have 30 rbi's that didn't come on the long ball.
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

Now that there is a legitimate complaint about Dunn. You can't complain that the guy doesn't get home runs with people on base - he does as the numbers have shown.

But the guy only gets 100 non-home run hits per year...it's hard to drive in a ton of runs when you hit at a .250 clip. He'll manage to drive in about 100 or so...maybe 110...but for a guy hitting that many home runs on a team scoring this many runs you'd usually expect more rbi's than that. But as someone else mentioned, he's a unique 'all-or-nothing' type player that's good because he can also take a walk. Those walks don't help the rbi's though and if you're looking to get rbi totals higher than the low 100's out of your slugger you're going to have to look elsewhere.

On the flip-side he's on base so much compared to other sluggers that his run totals in an improved Reds lineup should be outstanding.
