The man is just horroble so far this year! A 250 average and a ton of strikeouts! What a great first round pick so far! Anyone watching his games?? I was expecting a 300 hitter with power and steals!

I think your definition of Bay as horrible might be a little harsh.

Slumping, he is on pace for a 28Hrs and 14SBs and 100 Runs. If that's horrible, I'll take a dozen.

Yeah, his average is down. So what. It's very early. Take solace in the fact that his OBP is through the roof: .415. They are simply pitching around him. He has no protection whatsoever. He'll be fine.

Regarding his SB prowess, MLB.com radio guys were talking about Bay's 30-30 potential. They noted that there is NOTHING in Bay's minor or major leaguie career to suggest that he is anywhere near a lock to steal 30 and that last year's performance may be about his peak.

budguy, check out this thread, it's where all of us Bay owners can go to vent about him:

There's people in there that think I'm nuts for wanting to deal him for Holliday, but I'm getting tired of the feeble Pirates' offense and the fact that other teams are constantly pitching around him - and even with all the walks he's not stealing bases.

Just try to stay patient. His stat line should be fine at the end of the year.

patience is overrated when your team is 12th in a 12-team league because of guys like Bay.

That's true, tgalv.

It is funny though, it seems like all the upper-tier players I was counting on got off to slow starts at the same time - Bay, Kent, Rollins, Peavy, Aramis, etc. - it's been the cumulative effect of all of them getting off to slow starts. I've had a few guys pick up the slack (Edwin Encarnacion, O-Cab, Gibbons, etc.) but not enough to make a difference.

Alright, I admit it, I had a terrible auction.

See my signature. Bay was overrated going into this year and should have gone much later than he was taken. Lucky batting average last year and at his age last season might be his ceiling.
Bold Predictions:

Grady Sizemore will have more value than Jason Bay regardless of draft position

Aramis Ramirez in 155 G will hit over .300 40 HR 110 RBIs

Brian McCann will have more value than Jorge Posada regardless of draft position

At his age....that was his ceiling? At 27 or 28? So, I guess that's it for Bay. He should just retire at 28 since he can't do better than last year. Thanks for the laugh. ;-D
