Isn't this Huff's last contract year?

I think that would make alot of sense for the yanks. The d-rays should be looking to get anything for him, there is no way the d-rays are looking to resign huff next year with all of there young talented outfielders.

I heard the Yankees are gonna get Cole Hamels to play outfield and hit cleanup for the days he isn't pitching and then trade him back to the phillies on the days he needs to pitch.
I'm too lazy to make a sig at the moment

I think the Yanks will trade Pavano for a platoon of Paul O'Neill and David Justice to fill the hole in the OF.

How about thinking about this from a different angel? This is not about the Yankees as a team (it never really is), it's about the Yankees as a business. You just put up $200 million for a movie, do you skimp and hire a nobody actor? Sure, if you're george lucas or that jackson fellow, otherwise, sign the big bad boys - Cruise, Hanks, Crowe, etc. In baseball terms I would replace Lucas and Jackson with three-five starters, otherwise go fishing.

Melky, Damon, Bernie is not very eye catching or amazing.
Soriano, Damon, Someone is a little better.
Soriano, Damon, Sheffield is nice.

The only problem is - Soriano can't play left.

On Rotoworld today:
The injury-riddled Yankees plan to soon work out free agent OF Richard Hidalgo at their minor league complex in Tampa.
"Richard is definitely intrigued," said Hidalgo's representative Chris Leibel. The 30-year-old Hidalgo was released in Spring Training by Baltimore. This marriage makes a good amount of sense to us. AL-only players with room may want to stash him and see what happens. May. 20 - 11:31 am et

Here we go again.

The Yankees won their championships in the 90s with mostly homegrown players. No one ever said money buys championships, and why does it matter if someone is willing to spend 30 million to get a player they want? I'd rather have that than an owner who pockets the money.

Blah blah blah

Apparently neither does entering a season with Kevin Millwood as your ace...
