buster olney said something to the effect that he thinks bonds will end up in oakland next year. it was either on sports center or baseball tonight a few days ago. i wish i could remember exactly. i just dismissed the idea because i just can't see how the a's would come up with the money to pay him. though as an a's fan, it would be awesome if it did happen.

He does fit into the station to station Oakland mentality; and Beane won't have to worry about him going commando and stealing bases - that's for sure. I know I wouldn't want my club investing in a 40 something year old guy who's worth 100 games a year and needs to hit what would be a double for anyone else in order to hobble to 1st base.

Jerry Rice did it, Barry might as well do it too.

He would cost too much money for the A's.

I think the attendance boost alone would make it affordable for any team including Oakland. Anyway, the Insider article is just fluff and speculation reprinted from the Chronicle article.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey

Well, his knee is reason alone to come at some sort of discount.
