Just something to keep an eye on for those Thome owners out there. I understand their reasons too, but they're gonna be hurting without that bat.

With Konerko playing 1B I never thought there was any doubt Thome would sit.

He'll play some, there's no doubt about that. I would expect him to start every 3rd game, maybe even every other game. You cannot sit him for long when he's swinging the bat like that, you just can't. Ozzie isn't even that dumb.

He could possibly play in some games. Having Konerko come in the later innings.

Thome is the all-time leader in interleague HR's, I think that plus his glove work is OK, give him a spot!

He'll PH in almost every game but I can't see him playing over Konerko. Another thing is they play 6 of their 9 away games against Cincy and the Pirates who are both stacked with left handed pitching.

Well the Sox could just go with two outfielders and have Thome stand idly in far right field.

That's perfect....Konerko starts (most of the time) vs left handers....Thome starts vs right handers.

I repeat: No way he doesn't get at least a start or two. You don't bench an MVP for long. There's far too much risk it will break his rhythm.
