Like cmon.... Jason freeking Varitek starting catcher? 8-o

Cano being in there is much worse than Varitek.

Not this season.

Cano's hitting pretty darn well.

Anyways they need to do something about this rediculous bias.

NY has like 8 million people.

Boston ain't small either.

its just not fair

Id be fine with it if it didn't decide who would get home field advantage in the world series. If it didn't decide it, then i wouldn't care about who played and it would be a pointless yet entertaining game.

Also its ridiculous that Miguel Cabrera isnt even in the top 5 for NL 3b.

Yeah, Cano's .716 OPS is really All-Star game worthy. ;-7

What does Joe Mauer need to hit to get some recognition? He should start at catcher for both leagues.

The rest aren't that bad though, as Matthias said.

Agreed. VDub should be the starting CFer imho. I'd personally start Tejada over Jeter, he's having the better year, but both deserve to go.

Cano is just sneaking through becuase in the absence of any big-name second basemen having good years. Imho of the top five votegetters at second, only Iguchi deserves it. COME ON PEOPLE VOTE GRUDZIELANEK!

There are atleast 5 AL catchers more worthy of being in than Varitek. I agree with Cano being a bad vote-in as well.

I also agree with Wells starting over Damon.

It's kind of funny that you can't vote for the most productive AL player unless you write him in.

It's basically been a popularity contest ever since the fans have been allowed to vote, so that's not really a surprise.

I hope thats a joke.

Cano has a worse OPS than Varitek whilst playing a less demanding position. Why would it be a joke? There may be 8 AL catchers with better numbers than Varitek, but then there are six second basemen better than Cano.

I hope you asking if it was a joke, was a joke.

Don't try and compare individual numbers first of all, because that's pointless. It's based on position.

There are a lot more deserving 2B than there are deserving C. Varitek is still one of the best catchers, despite not doing well this year. Cano is not a top 2B, nor has he ever.

Again, not disagreeing with Cano undeserving, but how is catcher a more demanding position if you say there are 8 AL catchers with better numbers than Varitek and 6 AL second basemen with better numbers than Cano? Maybe in the sense that overall around the big leagues it's easier to find a good second base, but this is more or less who's deserving of the ASG.
