I don't have an explanation, but Alfonzo Soriano is on pace to set career highs both walks and strikeouts.

Can someone come up with a reason? Switching leagues generally produces more Ks on hitters because of the unfamiliarity of pitchers, but at the same time he is showing a better eye against new pitchers by walking.

(Note: I did not factor in intentional walks and did not check how many he has.)
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

I can't explain what's happening with him, but I'm loving every minute of it. ;-D

The odds of the AL MVP coming from the American League are looking pretty good.

All I can think is that he is seeing more unfamiliar pitchers, which means he might be taking a little more often to get a feel for it coming in and seeing what they are throwing him. The increase in patience might have lead to some extra free passes.

The only explanation I can come up with is the fact that he has gained patience and he also hasnt faced these pitchers before.

He's definitely better at drawing walks...he's not just on pace to break that record - he's on pace to shatter that record. That should help his runs a bit. He's striking out 22% of the time though and that's not going to help the average any. ;)
