Fastest player??

Postby smoovethug » Sun Jun 18, 2006 3:33 pm

I'm sitting here watching TB @ Phi and Crawford just stole a base easily. Made me think who was the fastest baseball player right now. Meaning if you just lined everyone up and said go who would win the race. Is there any site that has the times of players running a 40-yard dash or anything? Who do you guys think is the fastest? Here are some of the odds on favorites, IMO: Crawford, Ichiro, Reyes, Gathright, Figgins.

I'd say Gathright is probably the fastest player in the majors, imho. Too bad he's in the minors now, haha.

1. Gathright
2. Crawford
3. Reyes

Ichiro isn't fast at all but he does have the fastest time out of the box to first because he starts running towards first before he finishes his swing.

Ichiro isn't fast at all? You have got to be kidding me. He should be mentioned in a conversation about fastest players in the MLB. He's probably not the fastest, but he's up there.

Hard to have 30+ SB's a year (including 56 in his rookie year) if he's not fast, eh?

Gathright and Willy Taveras

Then Crawford and Reyes

THen Posednick

Juan Pierre used to be REAL FAST but has lost a step. As a general rule, the little guys lose a step faster, but the muscular athletic types maintain their speed longer, so Crawford may be faster than all these gus 5 years from now just by not losing a step.
