At this stage I don't think I'd do it. Sure your starters are stuggling but with a little bit of luck you could have and incredible 2nd half. You have three studs who are completely capable of posting Cy young ratios in the second half, altho all carry some risk. Personally I'd gamble 2 of the 3 come through ;-D

Ya, keep in mind you did JUST get Clemens back. I'd try trading for Dempster, not because you can occupy a starters spot, but because you can get in a buy low situation and expect him to have a pretty good second half. I'd suggest going with 3 starters and 4 closers the rest of the way, as you have the potential to have three VERY good starters.

Is Dempster really a significant upgrade over any of the 4 guys I have right now? I mean, I know he's better than Coffey, but is he far enough better to spend something trading for him?

Anyway, I didn't start this to talk about specific moves, so I won't belabor that point.

Your thought on starting 3 SP's and 4 RP's is one I have definitely contemplated. My question is though, am I going to get enough wins and K's with only 3 SP's to move out of last? If not, I figure I should just go the whole 9 yards and get a 5th closer. That thought process was really the genesis of this potential idea.

I think rmande09 was suggesting getting Papelbon and Dempster to go with 7 closers and 0 SP.
