Matsui Strategy - Anyone Else

Postby kev8821 » Fri Jun 30, 2006 10:52 am

It might be early to pick up H. Matsui and place him on the DL, but in my 12 team HTH league we have two slots for the DL and I don't have anyone there. If he is able to return around August 15th (6 weeks from now), that would give me just about the last 3 weeks of the season before the playoffs begin and 3 weeks of playoffs if eveything goes well.

Anyone else stashing him at this point? :-D

I never dropped him. I'm not sure how effective he'll be when he comes back, but he's worth a DL spot if he can help.

I did what you're talking about with CC this season. He was an injured FA, and I picked him up to put on my DL. I almost did the same with Gagne yesterday (but forgot). I'll probably stash him with my next move.

The thing about Matsui is that it's his wrist. Even if he does come back he won't be the same hitter for a while. Keep in mind his injury is considerably worse than what Derrek Lee's was. I really don't think he'll have an impact in fantasy this season.

Good point about the wrist. Yeah I realize it's a gamble, but if I have a DL slot open, I figure it's worth it. Not much to lose in my position.

If my league hadDL spots, I'd have kept him - heck, I'd go find Sheffield too and DL him, but I am biased there ;-)

Nothing to lose if the spots are open.

I've held on to him in my keeper league....

I hope to see what kind of value I can get for him come playoff time....

uhhh considering sheffield might not even come back i would have to go with matsui. But i wouldn't say either one is going to have a big impact. if you have the DL spot available you might as well do it, then if he sucks just drop him. No loss to you or anything. Interestingly i traded matsui about a week before he got injured...
