Start Schmidt @Col??

Postby adraw34 » Mon Aug 25, 2003 8:44 pm

His last couple of starts have been pretty good. Is it worth the risk for the strikeouts and a possible win? Or is it too risky especially without bonds backing him up?

Personally, I always avoid an @COL start if I have any control over it. I Benched Maddux and Prior there this year. IMO

Even with studs, Coors Field is the one exception to always starting them. Schmidt has a 7.56 career ERA in 5 games at Coors Field, so I would bench him. It's just not worth the risk and is likely going to be an ugly start.

After seeing his splits, I don't think i would take the chance....

i am going to start him anyway. may be a poor decision, but i'm not going to throw out a start from one of my stud pitchers.

It depends on you situation. I play in a H2H league so I will start him. I'd say go with your gut. I took this forum's advice on not starting Brett Myers in Colorado a few weeks ago and got burned. He pitched 7 innings and only 2 ER, and got the win.

Hell no.

I start Prior @COL without question, but Schmidt doesn't have a good history there, and they lose their MVP. I stay away.
