Has he kept his place on my roster? Even if I'm 100 IP over the limit (I know, I know, I know... I messed up.)

I'm not watching the game, but it seems he's only let up one run, but has a 2.0 whip or something. What's going on?
I'm back. Sorta.

I might either drop him tonight or keep him for his start against the DRays and then drop him. Walking 6 batters a game will only result in more blowups, like the debacle in Boston last week. The only reason he only gave up one run is because the Orioles were too inept to capitalize. Against a good hitting club, he'd be torched. Also, his walks mean that he struggles to get through 5 innings, which leaves little chance for a win.

In mixed nonkeeper leagues, I'd get rid of him. In keeper leagues, you pretty much have to keep him, and in AL only leagues he still would have decent value.

I would drop him but his possible replacements on the WW are just as bad.

I'm giving him one more start for sure, against Tampa Bay, but he's scary, having walked 12 guys in his last 7 2/3 innings.

I checked out his minor league numbers and heading into this year, he'd pitched 227 minor league innings and walked 114, that's 4.5 per 9 innings, so that's not great.

This year at AAA Sacramento, he pitched 88.2 innings and walked 35 (3.6 per 9 innings).

When I picked him up, I didn't expect control to be a problem for him, but 12 walks in 2 starts is terrible.

His next 4 starts should be against Tampa Bay, Baltimore again, Tampa Bay again, and Anaheim. That's not a Murderer's Row, so if there aren't any significantly better options, then keep him for those games.

Plus, the A's are hot right now. If he'd have gotten some runs early today, he could have had a win.
Roger Angell: I was talking with Bob Gibson and I said: 'Are you always this competitive?' He said: 'Oh, I think so. I got a three-year old daughter, and I've played about 500 games of tic-tac-toe with her and she hasn't beat me yet.'

With those matchups, he should do as well as whoever you would pick up for spot starts. Now if there's a very good option availiable........
