Odalis Perez May Have Cost me The League Win

Postby d18Mike » Wed Aug 27, 2003 2:04 am

Despite warnings, I had Perez starting last night, mainly beacuse I was interested in getting his two starts this week.

Lesson: Greed Kills.

Not to overreact here, but his one performance last night may cost me the League.

Standings are so tight in this 10-team league that The Great Perez Debacle cost me 3 places in ERA and and 4 in WHIP -- a seven point drop in one night -- and a dip in overall strandings from second to fourth (bordering on fifth). :-o

I'm sure I can make at least some of this up, but it certainly put a damper on my plan to be in first by the weekend -- and now I'm living in fear of his start this weekend.

Wow, that is amazingly tight, especially this late in the season. 8-o

Hope your next starts make up for this one!

WHIP, ERA and Steals are clustered amazingly tightly between 3rd and 7th place - a good or bad game or two can send you reeling or skyrocketing.

Ironically we have a guy in our League who quit managing in early July and he has surged ever since.

He went from 7th to 4th overall -- and this is a guy who still has Oswalt and Chacon active in his rotation and Juan Gonzalez active in his outfield.

This has been a particularly fun league. Every day counts. A lot of changes in mid-pack and a couple at the top. There are 3 points between first and second and 7 between first and third, so this will come down to the final week.

That sounds like a great league! Sucks about Perez though...

Odalis Speaks ...

"I don't know what happened, everything was fine and I felt good. It was like they knew what I was going to throw," Perez said. "It wasn't like I was making mistakes. They just hit it. Inside, outside, up and down, they hit everything. I was throwing everything I had and I had good location they were just crushing my pitches."

Really .... :-?
