The twins lose. The Tigers are coming from behind and should win . And the White Sox . Well the White Sox are being the White Sox and are losing to the ROYALS? Yep , Guess the Twins can over take the White Sox.

With Hunter comming back to the line up, and an addition of a good bat, and Garza, they can stay competitive. The Yankees have great bats, but their pitching is the question mark. They have no depth, and they need Johnson and Mussina to stay healthy down the stretch. I think the Yankees would be better served acquiring a starter, instead of chasing after Abreu.
I think the next two days will be huge for all teams involved in the race.

There weren't any pitchers out there that were:
A) good enough to aquire and
B) affordable (in terms of players in return)

I personally think Boston, Chicago and Minnesota will fight it out for the postseason with Chicago fading.

If Minnesota makes it, that rotation is going to be terrifying in a best of 5 series.

I think the Twins could do it, but I don't think they will. Given I don't believe it matters since the Red Sox will be winning the wild card.

Twins need to be more concerned with catching the Tigers. So does Chicago.

I think this race will carry on until the final few weeks of the season. I expect the Tigers to win the Central fairly handily, and the Yankees to take the East. I think that all eyes will be on Minnesota throughout September, but they will begin to fall away throughout the final few weeks. I think the Wild Card spot comes down to the Red Sox and the White Sox. At this point, between the two, I'd pick the Red Sox to take it. So my prediciton for the first round of the playoffs would be...

Detroit Tigers vs. Boston Red Sox
New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Oakland certainly has a shot, but I think the Angels pitching and bullpen is good enough to win the division and be a force in the playoffs.

If the angels were such a force why would they lose 2 out of 3 to Oakland without their hottest hitter in the last two games. When Harden comes back Oakland will have the best 1-3 rotation in the division Zito, Harden, Haren

I'll take Lackey-Colon-Weaver over that 1-3.
