is Josh Johnson for real?

It's still too early to tell if he is going to be an ace of Marlins pitching staff (since other than Dontrell, any pitching spot is open -- remember, we all thought Jason Vargas will be in the middle of the staff? He is in AAA now...).

Johnson looks good though. If he still pitches well next season, then we can safely say he is for real.

I still say he's just an ordinary pitcher who'll post a high 3 ERA in Florida with ugly WHIP but a good k rate

much rather have Olsen in the long run.

He was the minor league player of the year in Marlins system...so look at all the rookies playing in Florida, he is for real. He shut down the Mets, and everyone else. He leads the NL in ERA, and K's a bunch as well. Will he consistantly do this? Only time will tell, but everyone in this forum has been saying he wouldnt keep it up this long......so, I own him in a keeper, am in first place......and will keep him for next year.

sounds like a similar complaint about carlos zambrano's emergence out of nowhere a few years back.

he also generates an excessively high amount of ground balls, like zambrano, so the BBs are less likely to hurt him if the defense behind him is better than average. though the other thing helping zambrano out is that infield grass at wrigley, it just kills his ground balls.

Eh, you guys seem to forget Duke from last year. Johnson is in a week division and will get his sooner or later.

That's a bad comparison. First of all, Duke was a late-season call-up, so his success was probably due more to unfamiliarity than it was due to his stuff. Second, speaking of stuff, Johnson has some. Duke doesn't. Third, are you saying that the NL Central is a powerhouse?
