WHO YA GOT - Prior vs. Hamels

Postby Super Manny » Fri Aug 04, 2006 2:09 am

Which injury-prone, high-strikeout potential starter do you like for the rest of the season?

Discuss amongst yourselves.

I'd also go Prior.

Personally, I'm torn.

I agree that Prior is more "proven", but think Hamels could be more fantasy-friendly. He should receive more run support than Prior, giving more chances for wins, and has shown the higher strikeout potential this season. On the downside, Hamels will theoretically pitch half his remaining starts (home games) in a pitcher's park...

Hmmm...

Gotta go Hamels personally, Prior has looked like the 2nd coming of Ankiel and with no run support, it shouldn't be long before they shut him down to protect him for next season.

Prior has a better bullpen to keep the 3 guys he puts on in the 5th inning away from the plate? And they probably have more film on Prior. Of course, Prior's film could be of either one of the several Priors who've pitched this year...hmmmm fugettaboutit... LOL... :-D

i got hamels. Prior is SUPER injury prone. He'll never pitch for a full season, its just too risky. I agree he's more proven but the injuries are just too much...

Hamels has quietly been mowing them down in his last few starts (including 12K in two of his last 3 games) after a shaky start. Too early to tell if he's "turned a corner," but if he has he could be a monster the rest of the way. ;-D
