The Yakult Swallows are prepared to post Akinori Iwamura, sources told the Yomiuri Shimbun on Monday.

Iwamura has been asking for the opportunity to play in the majors for years, but the Swallows have refused to post him until now. The Padres, Indians, Phillies, Red Sox and Giants are among the clubs that could have some interest in the 27-year-old. He hit at least .300 with 30 homers in each of the last three seasons, topping out at 44 homers in 2004.

Pogo, that wasn't very diesel of you. Be nice to the man who's trying to expand our rumor knowledge. Oh, and if you're Canadian, that's rumoUr. I'm sure you didn't understand what I was saying. I have total empathy for you. After all, it's not your fault where you're from.

Another very diesel point Sluggers. Or diecel if you're Canaidian.

before this thread gets locked, let's talk about Iwamura...never heard of him, but he sounds a lot likeKaz Matsui. How his game translates remains to be seen. I doubt the Sox would get involved, but if the posting fee is ~$5-8 mil and 6/7 mil per season, they'll probably explore it. :-°

Iwamura struck out 173 times in 533 at bats in the Japanese league last season. I pray the Padres don't shell out the money required to get him; he's not going to be worth anything close to his price.

Be that as it may, I can't help but wonder if the Indians would be interested in him.

Would anyone happen to have a link from a reputable trade rumor site about this???

That is an awesome question. Some would even say it's diesel. Not everyone would say that, though. Canadians, for example, would not say that.

Anyone know of a 3 HR game list for Japanese players?

No 3 HR games but I have read that Big 'Nori has the calmest eyes in the Japanese league.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
