He's no diesel :-D

His .900+ OPS should dip down into the low .800s if past Japanese hitters performance is any indication (with the HR taking the biggest hit, he'll probably hit about 15-20 max). So, that would just make him an okay 3B, right? I'm not sure how capable he is at 2B, I've only seen him at 3B. Oh yeah, he brought down his SO from 173=>146=>128 over the past three seasons while constantly drawing around 70 walks, but we're talking fantasy so this probably doesn't concern too many people.

There is an odd chance that he'd turn into Kaz Matsui (though little Matsui did finish off the season on a relative tear in Colorado where no one was watching him), but mostly Japanese players translations to MLB are becoming more predictable. (Same goes the other way too, some players with MLB experience can't succeed in Japan just because of the culture shock and the game being played differently. The cultural adjustment factor is more upto the individual.)

Taguchi's numbers didn't decline going from NPB to MLB though, So amazin' ;-)

Akinori Iwamura Prepared To Play 2B/SS/CF
Akinori Iwamura is a 27-year Japanese third baseman with a good chance of being posted. Translations indicate that he could post a .850-.900 OPS in the Majors.

A recent interview with Iwamura (in Japanese) indicates that he'd be willing to convert to second base, shortstop, or even center field if needed. He was a five-time Gold Glover at third in Japan.

Silly Canadians... You don't scare us. You can't even smite the French in your own country.

Lol. Threatening to smite someone on an Internet message board screams "D&D nerd". B-)
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
