I don't see why everyone's hating on Roberts so much. He's a great player who is extremely undervalued. Does he need days off? yeah he does.. he'll only play about 120 games a year... but he's a great defensive OF (in the top 10 in RF for non-CFs, and he puts up these kind of defensive stats every year...)

And he actually hits lefties OK, not well, and below league-average, but he's not unplayable against lefties (for a real MLB team).. However, the big thing LHP do to him is they shut down his running game...

As for his base-stealing; Roberts' lack of power is completely offset by this... other guys might steal 40-50 bags a year, but Roberts does it at a NINETY PERCENT success rate... nobody else does that...

Roberts may not be an all-star, but he is surely an above-average CF for a real team, once defense and baserunning is factored in.

Pierre is probably out of the Rockies price range. Pierre actually started out with the Rockies, and did pretty well. I wouldn't mind him at the top of the lineup, but his rubber arm doesn't help much at Coors.

The Rockies are too cheap to sign Soriano.

I don't think it's a terrible move. He's a decent leadoff hitter who can play CF and I believe the Rockies are in the market for both.

I think it's a great move. Everyone knows that he should've won the MVP this year. Top 3 at the least...

(Actually, it seems like a pretty good move to give the Rockies farm system a year to mature. They're pretty much just treading water until they get that Helton contract off the books, anyway.)
